Venue

The conference will be held at the University of Aveiro located in the town of Aveiro, centre of Portugal. An interactive map of the Campus with information about the buildings can be found here. The conference location is in the Rectory and Administration Building, which is relatively central in the Campus.

Aveiro is 80 Km south of Porto and 240 Km north of Lisbon. It can be easily reached by train and by car. In case of coming by train, take either the Alfa/Pendular or the Intercidades. There are several coming either from Lisboa or Porto, check the portuguese railway company CP for timetables and prices.

The connections from the airports to the train stations are also easy. From Porto airport you should go to Campanhã railway station. You can take a taxi or a bus (info). From Lisboa airport, take a taxi or a bus to Oriente railway station (info).

If you come by car, take the highway A1, which interconnects Lisboa and Porto. If coming from Lisboa, leave the highway in Aveiro Sul, then take the road heading to Aveiro that leads directly to the university campus. If coming from Porto, leave the highway in Albergaria and take the highway IP5 to Aveiro. Leave the IP5 highway at Aveiro Oeste and follow the signs that are convenient, Centro or Universidade.

Getting around in Aveiro can generally be done walking. An interactive map can be found here. However, you can also use a BUGA, a freely available city bicycle, and leave it in one of the BUGA stops inside the campus. In fact, you may drive a BUGA anywhere inside Aveiro. When arriving by train, a taxi may be more convenient. You can find them easily outside the train station.

While in Aveiro, you will find many interesting sites to visit. Aveiro is 10 Km away from a long coastline of sandy beaches, from which Barra and Costa Nova are the two closest ones. In between rests a magnificent lagoon that bears the town name, Ria de Aveiro. The town is crossed by several water channels, on which one can see the typical moliceiro sail boats. There are also several ancient monuments such the Cathedral from the 15th-18th century and the Gothic Cross and the Regional Museum.
